Your film knowledge is quite broad. Oh, that's fine. How about listing your favorite actors, playwrights, and theorists then? Is there a specific philosophy of theater you adhere to?
Thanks! Its definitely an interest of mine. I also have a soft spot for sci-fi, though my knowledge of it is not yet very extensive. Playwrights: Sarah Kane, Caryl Churchill, Harold Pinter, Sam Shephard, Tom Stoppard, Antonin Artaud, Samuel Beckett, Shakespeare, Seneca, Moliere….for musicals, I’m a huge sucker for all the big names, Leonard Bernstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Sondheim, but also younger groups like Kerrigan and Lowdermilk, and the team that wrote [title of show]. Actors: (in theatre specifically) I’m huge on classically trained British Actors, and British style in general, like Ian McKellen, Anthony Hopkins, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Julie Andrews, Jude Law, Gary Oldman…but I also love brash american musical theatre types, like John Leguizamo, Idina Menzel and Sutton Foster Theorists: I’m most well read on Stanislavski, Grotowski, Richards, and the like. But I am also very interested in Brechtian Theatre, Theatre of the Absurd, the French Surrealists, and all kinds of that weird shit. Sorry this got so extensive. |
